Mike Kolleth is a freelance photojournalist specializing in sports and news editorial coverage.
His work has appeared across a wide range of platforms—from Topps baseball cards to national advertising campaigns—and has been published in hundreds of media outlets, including The New York Times, USA Today, and The Boston Globe. Based in mid-Michigan, he is a regular contributor to The Detroit News, Lansing State Journal, and the MLive network of newspapers.
Kolleth is a longtime volunteer photographer for Special Olympics USA and Special Olympics Michigan.
In addition to his photography work, Kolleth serves as chairman of the Saginaw Art Museum and the Temple Theatre, where he previously held the role of President and CEO.
Before transitioning to full-time creative and nonprofit work, he spent 33 years with Dow Chemical, retiring as Global Director of Government & Public Affairs and served on the Dow North America leadership team. His corporate career was split between London, Zurich, and Dow headquarters in Midland, Michigan.
Kolleth has also been active in civic and cultural organizations, serving on, among others, the operations board of the Great Lakes Loons—Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers—for 12 years, as well as with Friends of Theodore Roethke, supporting the promotion of poetry in mid-Michigan.
He holds a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, England, a postgraduate diploma in corporate strategy from the University of Oxford, England, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University. During his time at Cambridge, he competed on the university’s lacrosse and cross-country (Hare & Hounds) teams.
